While I enjoy all of the sparkling personalities I get to work with, let’s leave the shimmer and shine to your spirits!
There is a NO GLITTER policy inside the MDP Studio.
As part of my style of shooting, I use real wood backdrops. This wood is more than a century old and is beautifully weathered and worn by its time on this earth. It does not need to sparkle. It is beautiful on its own.
While you may enjoy the look of glitter on objects or things around you, other people do not. Most of the props, blankets, faux furs, outfits, etc that are in the studio are used with newborns and small children.
My studio is a “communal space” meaning other people use the studio and props after you. Someone else will not want the remnants of your session embedded in theirs. And, unfortunately, glitter does not easily come off of wood or linens, which has caused me to spend several hours after sessions where items with glitter on them have been brought in, cleaning and often throwing out expensive studio props.
For these reasons
no glitter is allowed in the studio.
Not on outfits. Not on props. Not on shoes. Not on hair bows. Not on cake toppers for smash cake sessions. Not as a makeup or hair dye accessory.
Not on things that you’re “sure the glitter can’t come off of.”
MDP has implemented a Professional Studio Cleaning fee for violations of this policy. An invoice for $350 (the cost for professional cleaning) plus the replacement cost of any and all props/fabrics/etc that can not be fully restored to its pre-glitter life, will be sent to you and must be paid before the photos from your session will be released to you.
Double check the items you intend to bring with you to the studio. This policy will not be waived for any reason.
This policy is in place for all future sessions, beginning February 7th, 2021, regardless of when your session was originally booked.
