Welcome to Wonder Meadow!
Where the real world, and imagination grow side by side.

There is a small stretch of land where winding paths, tall grasses, mossy corners, and quiet woodland spaces come together to form a place called Wonder Meadow. It’s a real place — part of the outdoor studio property of Melissa Donner Photography — where children come to explore, laugh, and make memories. But if you spend a little time there…you may start to notice something else.

A tiny rustle in the leaves.
A curious footprint in the dirt.
A mushroom that seems a little too perfectly placed.

And that’s when the story begins.

Because, Wonder Meadow is also home to a hidden world of small magical creatures known as the Wonderlings.

At Wonder Meadow there is a real trail, real trees, real sunshine, real insects, and real moments of wonder that happen when we step outside and explore. But, alongside the real world of nature, a story has begun to grow.

The Wonderlings are imaginative characters who live throughout Wonder Meadow — tucked among the wildflowers, under toadstools, beside little creeks, and along the winding Wonder Trail. Some are explorers. Some are collectors of tiny treasures. Some are quiet watchers of the woods. Some are joyful little adventurers who bring color and laughter wherever they go. Each Wonderling has their own personality, favorite places, and special gifts. And just like Wonder Meadow itself, their stories are still growing.

As you explore this part of the website, you’ll meet the different groups of Wonderlings who call this place home:

The Wibberwink Wonderlings
7 bright, whimsical creatures full of color, curiosity, and imagination - Mossby, Jasper, Tovi, Winka, Flip, Figg, and Dewbi.

The Woodland Wonderlings
10 Gentle forest dwellers who know the quiet secrets of the woods - Niiva, Patch, Juniper, Thatch, Olli, Flint, Pocket, Willamae, Truffle, and Huckle.

The Wibbet Wonderlings
7 frog adventurers who love muddy puddles, exploring, and hopping through the meadow - Wimzi, Trinket, Rust, Cinder, Sprocket, Sprig, and Tuck.

Each one has a name, a personality, and a place within the story.

Wonder Meadow was created as a place where we can step away from screens, slow down, and experience the magic that already exists in the natural world. The Wonderlings at Wonder Meadow simply help us notice it. They remind us to look closely. To listen carefully. To wonder about the tiny stories happening all around us. Because sometimes the most magical things aren’t imaginary at all. Sometimes they’re just waiting to be noticed.

If you ever visit Wonder Meadow in person (and you really can!), walk the paths slowly. Look carefully near the mushrooms. Listen for rustling leaves. Watch the sunlight moving through the trees. Spin with the wind. Wave to the clouds. Tell the trees your name. Leave all the things that are heavy on your shoulders for the magic trolls to carry for a while.

You never know when you might discover signs that a Wonderling has been nearby.

And once you begin noticing wonder…you may find it everywhere.

The Wonder Maker

The world of the Wonderlings began with a girl whose imagination was always a little busy.

That girl grew up to be Melissa Donner, a professional photographer who built her own 2500sqft indoor studio space with an attached 3 acre outdoor space that she lovingly refers to as “Wonder Meadow”.

As a kid, Melissa spent hours outside — exploring, drawing, noticing tiny details in nature, and dreaming up stories about the world around her. She was the kind of kid who wondered what might be living under mushrooms, inside hollow trees, or just beyond the bend of a trail.

In many ways, she never stopped being that curious and creative kid.

Today, Melissa photographs newborns, children, high school seniors, families and more, but she has also slowly been turning the outdoor studio property into something a little more magical — a real place where imagination and nature meet. Where her photography work can live alongside and in harmony with a brilliant imagination driven world she’s creating.

Interesting oversized “props” were built, like The Prism you see Melissa sitting next to.
Trees were planted.
Paths were made.
Wildflowers are allowed to grow wild.
Creatures of all kind are welcome to coexist.
Little nooks of wonder began to grow…and Melissa began noticing something wonderful taking shape around her…so she’s embraced it with her whole heart and all the sweat, hard work, creativity, and imagination she’s known for.

Around Wonder Meadow, Melissa is sometimes called The Wonder Maker — not because she creates the magic…but because she saw it first and believes it’s been there all along.
